Having to run-in a car is agony.
The frustration of limiting how hard you rev is like finding a fiver, then realising you left your wallet at a bar the night before.
So, for the first couple of weeks, life with our Ford Fiesta was a real challenge. With just 4,000rpm to play with, the Fiesta wasn't living up to the promise of its lairy bodykit and arch-filling 17" wheels.
The sedate pace gave us plenty of time to pick holes in the Fiesta. And most obvious was the Fiesta's ride comfort - or the lack of it. I can live with the woodenness added by the optional 17" wheels because they look so damn good, but some of us aren't quite so charitable.
Our News and Feature editor Farah has the worst commute in the office, a trip of well over 100 mostly motorway miles. After taking the Fiesta home for a whole week she found the unsettled ride wearing.
So when one of the Fiesta's competitors rolled into 4Car's car park, some of us began to question the wisdom of our long-term choice...
