Biography

As well as regularly co-presenting Channel 4 News, Bridgid has been money reporter since 2007. The credit crunch, inflation, Northern Rock, interest rates, the property market, company news and the health of the economy are among the areas she covers in her daily live studio slots during News at Noon, as well as on location.

Her first scoop in this role was in May 2007 when she broke the story that the government was having to delay the introduction of Home Information Packs because too few Domestic Energy Assessors had been trained for the controversial policy to go ahead as planned in England and Wales.

In a separate report she revealed how HIPs were delaying property transactions in part of the South of England because buyers and sellers were waiting 12 weeks for the packs to be delivered.

Since then Bridgid has had a number of exclusives, including revealing how much the pawnbroking industry benefits from the credit crunch and, most recently, revealing that the fuel bill for council vehicles in England and Wales has risen by 239 million pounds since 2006, leading to one council in Leicestershire admitting it's fuel budget will run out by Christmas.

Outside Channel 4 News: in 2007 she presented a five part series, 'Save Money!', for Teachers TV, considering how state secondary schools could make efficiencies in their budgets to finance facilities and resources.

Prior to becoming a specialist correspondent, Bridgid was a general reporter and presenter. Her work has been nominated and shortlisted for a number of awards since she joined Channel 4 News in 1999 including the Mental Health Media Awards TV, the Screen Nation Film and Television Awards and the Medical Journalists' Association Broadcasting Awards.

Bridgid's broadcasting career began in 1997 as a producer on The Big Breakfast News. She later became presenter of the BB News, which involved unscripted, witty banter with BB presenters Johnny Vaughan and Liza Tarbuck.

In 1999 Bridgid became a reporter for Channel 4's First Edition, a news and current affairs programme for eight- to 13-year-olds. In 2000 she moved to Channel 4 News, establishing herself first as a producer, including a stint as political producer to Gary Gibbon, Political Editor.

As a reporter, she covered domestic news stories (including reporting an election for Channel 4's weekly political programme, Powerhouse) and regularly co-presenting the flagship Channel 4 News evening programme.

Bridgid is also a Sports Presenter for Channel 4 News, as well as an occasional anchor of its sister programme, More4 News. She has previously presented news bulletins for Channel 5 News and anchored the ITN Newschannel.
