Cloudy, breezy today. Much colder weekend with snow in places.

Today
A cloudy, breezy day in many places though some sunshine is expected particularly in southern and eastern areas. Occasional light rain or drizzle over western hills with a few sharp showers in northeast Scotland.

Tonight
Little change for most, with largely cloudy skies and a few spots of light rain now and again. Much colder weather will spread into Scotland, turning showers wintry here later.

Friday
Colder, clearer weather with increasingly wintry showers will progress in to many eastern and central parts of the UK. Much of N.Ireland, Wales and the Westcountry will stay milder, cloudier.
